President and Chief Executive Officer of Tropical Arctic Logistics (TAL), Emperor Chris Baywood Ibe has said that the company is a game changer in the aviation industry in Nigeria.
The President of the indigenous airline operating in Nigeria, made the call in Lagos during an interactive session with the press where the company unveiled its newly acquired AW139 helicopter in to its existing fleet.
Baywood Ibe also advocated that the Federal Government should ensure and enforce initiatives to support indigenous investors for sustainable business growth which would ultimately impact positively on job creation and other socio-economic benefits.
Addressing the press, Emperor Baywood Ibe took a permission to make an advocacy. “Permit me to use this medium to advocate that pursuant to the Nigerian Content policy, that such as TAL for sustainable business growth which ultimately impacts positively on job creation and other socio-economic benefits. This will prevent the untimely extinction of indigenous establishments,” he said.
The company, established in 2013 to provide professional solutions with emphasis on safety and efficiency was happy to launch its newly acquired six fleet of AW139 helicopter, S92 and a Challenger fixed wing business Executive Jet.
“Our helicopter company offers business-beneficial services to the Oil and Gas industry, Executive Spot Charter, Banking Industry, Medical Emergency Evacuation (MEDVAC) and allied Services as well as Executive private Aircraft Charter,” Ibe emphasised.
Telling the audience more about the company, he said, “TAL was founded in accordance with the Nigerian Content Monitoring Development Board (NCMDB) policy to develop local capacity. Indeed, apart from the technical support from our off-shore partners, Rose Aviation, based in the Republic of Ireland, TAL is a company by Nigerians and for Nigerians with international best practices.”
According to him, the company since inception has maintained an unwavering focus on the pursuit of excellence as its operational philosophy. “We are passionately committed to best practice in accordance with world-class standards in the Air Logistics sector. In line with our major focus on SAFETY and EFFICIENCY, Tropical Arctic Logistics Ltd crew are certified FAA/EASA trained personnel in alignment with the industry and country of operation regulatory requirements.”
Stating further, he said, “The Company’s operational safety policy both onshore and offshore is one of the key attributes which will achieve tremendous resonance among stakeholders. This is one of the reasons why Tropical Arctic Logistics is poised to achieve incomparable heights in customer service standards.”
Chairman of the company and former Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr. Henry Odein Ajumogobia (SAN), said it is a new day for Nigerian aviation industry.
“In Nigeria today, we talk about diversifying our economy but the reality is because oil and gas is still the fulcrum of the economy and oil and gas industry has to grow for us to be able to succeed in diversifying the economy and so with the explosion that we anticipate in the oil and gas industry, investments like this is very timely because we have to support such investments,” he said.
Also at the event was the Chief Operating Officer of the organization, Prince Femi Adeniji an engineer with 42 years’ experience in the aviation industry shed lights on the maintenance culture of TAL.
According to him, “TAL is a strong believer of local content and in my background I have 42 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance I have worked with four out of five companies which are maintenance companies.”
Adeniji, an Aircraft Engineer with a wide and diversified background in Electronics, various airframe engines including Helicopters also identified Nigeria’s number one problem as maintenance. “The aircraft you see out there were flown down from Europe by two Nigerians. So maintenance is important to us,” he said.
The elated President of the company, also told the media that TAL is set to transform the landscape of the Aviation sector in Nigeria as we commission the AW 139 Helicopter, one of our six fleet.
The confident President however assured the media of the capability of the company. “TAL is a game-changer and has made massive investments in all key sectors of our operations in order to sharpen our competitive edge.
“We have therefore, positioned our company for leadership in this sector, an unparalleled feat for a company founded just five years ago. The AW139 helicopter we have acquired is state-of-the-art and designed for safety and efficiency to service customers’ demand,” he said.
