There was pandemonium this afternoon when a middle aged woman collapsed at Ogba bus stop in Lagos.
Timely intervention of sympathizers however saved the day after she collapsed and was on the road for some minutes due to an unknown ailment.
Sympathizers told National Wire that the lady had been sighted in the area few minutes before she eventually collapsed.
“She was behaving irrationally and we all moved away from her. We earlier thought she was insane but later she collapsed and we were all afraid,” a student who refused to mention her name said.
By divine providence, an ambulance owned by Lagos State was passing and sympathizers immediately flagged it down and rescue operations began.
The ambulance staffers immediately rushed the lady into the vehicle with the help of commercial bus drivers in the area.
“If not for the timely intervention of the ambulance we don’t know what would have happened. You can see the level of pandemonium here just because it was sudden,” said a bus conductor who stated further that, “Many people have died like this since nobody knows what sickness she was nursing. We couldn’t even touch her without wearing gloves and we don’t have gloves since we didn’t know we would see this kind of thing. Thank God for the ambulance workers, they have gloves and that is why volunteers were able to carry her into the ambulance.”
Another concerned woman at the scene wondered if the sick woman was epileptic. “We don’t know if she was epileptic because they said the saliva of an epileptic person must not touch anybody because it can be contracted.”
Another onlooker intervened by saying “She wasn’t epileptic because she was not shaking and she was seen at the bus stop near Tantalizers before she collapsed. She may be suffering from other ailments which nobody can know until medical examination is carried out on her. But whatever is the sickness one must not touch her with bare hands.
Meanwhile the ambulance was at the scene for a while as first aid was administered to stabilize her before she was eventually moved away for further treatment.
