Members of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) chapter have elected new set of officers to run the affairs of the union.

Delegates from various NEPC Zonal offices participated at the election which held at the headquarters in Abuja 13th June.

Mr. Ayodele Sunday Emmanuel emerged the Chairman having won a total of 122 votes while Mr. Sadiq Aliu scored 117 votes and the incumbent, Mr. Fred McPherson scored 30 votes.

Mrs. Angela E. who scored a total of 112 votes emerged the Vice Chairman, Miss Deborah Dada finished with 73 votes, Mr. Tajudeen scored 47 votes, Mr. Imbufe scored 25 votes and Mr. Kenneth Nwulu scored 10 votes.

Mrs. Amina Tumba emerged the Secretary of the union winning 114 votes while Mrs. Gift Akpan scored 119 votes. With a total of 137 votes Mrs. Chika Illongwo became the Ex-Officio while Mrs. Joy Uche had 123 votes in the same category.

Some votes were declared null as the forms were wrongly filled.

Speaking after the election, the new Chairman Ayodele Sunday Emmanuel expressed his appreciation to God and delegates who ensured a peaceful election.

“Firstly, I give all glory to God who has anointed me for this purpose. Honestly, I cannot find appropriate word to describe the situation. I am indeed overwhelmed by the support from my colleagues, both senior and my contemporaries gave me,” he said.

The new Chairman expressed his appreciation further. “I am overwhelmed with the way the delegates traveled from very far distances to ensure they are part of the victory. I want to say that the victory is not just for me but for the entire NEPC family,” he said, adding that “No victor, no vanquish, we have come of new age. This is just a new dawn.”

On how he intends to improve the welfare of NEPC workers, the new Chairman said, “Our major priority will be on staff welfare. This is one thing that cuts across board our members. We will focus on things that will give them better life and that will make them have benefit for working.”

He also promised to ensure equity and transparency. “Again on the issue of training, traveling abroad and some other things, we will ensure that there is equity in the selection of officers both in the Headquarters, Regional and other Smart Offices.”

The new elected officers are to serve for the next four years when another election would be held to elect officers into the various offices.
