Security: Lagos Police raid criminals’ hideouts, arrest over 100

In its bid to rid the Lagos metropolis of criminals, the state Police Command this evening carried out a mop up exercise to clear the state of criminal elements in various neighborhoods.

The Police Command in its Saturday operation stormed the Ifako- Ijaiye area of Agege, rounding up several hoodlums.

The team comprising the Nigeria Airforce, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Lagos State Neighborhood Security Corps with the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations, Edgar Imohimi at the forefront, made their presence noticed at Obawole, Iju Ishaga, Jungle and College Road areas.

The team rounded up criminals in their dozens in various localities including areas behind Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Secretariat.

Some other hoodlums were picked at various brothels while some thugs were rounded up in an uncompleted building where many engaged in gambling and smoking substances.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni said the mop up operation was necessary to rid the state of hoodlums in preparation for the next Local Government election.

The raid which started around 4.00pm, lasted for about two hours.

Other senior officers that led various teams include Alamutu Abiodun, RRS Commander, DC Disu Olatunji.
