Security: Gov. Sani Bello Commissions new Police Station

Niger state governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has commissioned Yakila Police station in Yakila community , Rafi Local Government Area of  the state.

The station, according to a Press statement made available to newsmen over the weekend by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,  Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace , was built and furnished by the state government at the cost of N19 million , to replace the dilapidated structure serving the town and the adjourning villages.

The release added that the commissioning which was part of Governor
Abubakar  Sani Bello’s mid-term assessment tour of projects embarked upon by the state and local governments in the state.

The Governor was quoted as saying that the provision of adequate security for lives and property remain a cardinal priority of his administration, stressing that proper measures were being taken to ensure security and peaceful coexistence among the people of the state.

The Governor stated further that building and renovation of Police stations and other security formations in parts of  the state was a move by the APC-led administration in the state  to provide conducive environment for law enforcement agencies  and to  enable them carry out their constitutional responsibility of maintaining peace and ensuring security of lives and property  across the state.

“We are committed to ensuring that the lives of our people as well as their properties are safe and secured. This we intend to do by ensuring that the welfare of all our security agencies are taken care off by ensuring tha they work in conducive environment”, said Governor Sani Bello.

The Governor  also disclosed that plans were underway  to renovate the
newly upgraded Pandogari township Police station to the status of a
division and the Police outpost  in Kusherki all in Rafi Local Government
area.

National Wire observed that few weeks ago, the  state government equipped the police and vigilante groups in Rafi, Muyan and Shiroro local governments of the state with motorcycles for effective surveillance and to checkmate the rushing wave of crimes in the state.
