Government at all levels in the country have been called upon to recognize and support the Nigerian Red Cross Society in States and National platforms for the enormous work they are doing in the humanitarian activities in the Country.
The Assistant Coordinator Health and Care of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, National Headquarters in Abuja, Ms. Ikwo Imoke, made the call in her presentation at a one-day Lessons Learned workshop for Mpox intervention organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Health @ Golden Tulip Hotel in Asaba-Delta state.
She equally appealed to the three ties of Governments to subsidized treatment of cEndases during outbreaks as well as provide or advocate for logistics support for case investigation during outbreaks.
Ms. Imoke also advocated that refresher training should be conducted for Health Facility workers during epidemic outbreaks response to increase suspicion index and improve cases management.
Mrs. Ikwo Imoke also highlighted some of the objectives of the Lessons Learned Workshop among other things to include the assessment of the project objectives against output and outcomes, as well as document, analyze and share learnings for future programming.
She appreciated the NCDC and State government participants for their collaboration and support during the Mpox implementation.
In his address, the IFRC Representative in Abuja, Mr. Farouk Kater said the purpose of the program was to share experience and ensure collaborative efforts between the relevant stakeholders for efficient and effective service delivery.
In his Goodwill message, the Senior Health Education Officer of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, (NCDC), Mr. Micheal Okoli appreciated the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its quick and immediate response during epidemic outbreaks in Nigeria.
Mr.Micheal Okoli particularly thanked the Director Programmes of the National Society in Abuja ,DR.Manir Jega for the work he did in supporting the government during to the Mpox Response.
Also in her Goodwill message, the Delta state Epidemiologist, Dr. Mildred Okowa thanked the Red Cross in Nigeria for its support to the citizens of Nigeria for imparting positively on their lives, describing the lesson learned as an engagement and opportunity to interact with one another for the benefits of the people in their various states.
Meanwhile goodwill messages were delivered from various key stakeholders during the lesson learned workshop.
The workshop had participants from twelve States namely, Niger, Delta, Ebonyi, Rivers, Imo, Abia, FCT, Cross River, Enugu, Benue and Akwa Ibom and Benue.States respectively
