Providence As Travelers Rescue 4 On Ibadan-Lagos Express

If not for providence Thursday evening, four travellers traveling from Ojoo park, Ibadan, Oyo State to Pansheke, Abeokuta, Ogun State would have lost their lives in a motor accident along Ibadan-Lagos express way.

The salon car in which they were traveling suddenly lost control and somersaulted several times before entering into a ditch filled with water at about 5pm Thursday around Ogere, Ogun State.

Other drivers on the route however stopped to rescue the victims in a coordinated operation that saved the day.

“We must stop to rescue the victims because if we had moved on, nobody would know there was anybody in that water,” said one of the drivers on the rescue operation.

The good Samaritan stated further that, “When I entered into that water where the car tumbled into with four tyres up, there was a big snake in the water, I was afraid and the snake too was afraid and escaped.

“We had to slice off the seat belts to allow the occupants of the car come out while we also cut a back door to allow others come out through the water.”

An old woman perhaps in her 70s was among the victims. She had a cut on her forehead and was made to sit on the road to stabilise.

“Help me tell my children what had happened,” she managed to say in pains.

Meanwhile, nobody could contact any of her family members because her phone was lost in the pool of water. Other passengers also in pains tried to salvage whatever they could from the water.

Thankfully other drivers around identified the vehicle involved in the accident and called the park it took off from to announce the incident.

Luckily a team of the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived the scene to evacuate the victims to the hospital.
