Profit Taking Resumes’ As NSE Market Indicators Went Down By 2.77 Percent

Activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday which was the last trading day for the month of July 2017 witnessed profit taking among investors that have made profits in their respective stock dragging the key market indicators down by 2.77 percent, while the year to date return stood at 33.37 percent.

The All Share Index closed at 35,844.00 against the previous close of 36,864.71 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦12.354 trillion against previous close of ₦12.705 trillion. Volume traded decreased by 6.74 percent from 525.596 million to 490.164 million, while the total value of stock traded decreased by 35.29 percent from ₦8.138 billion to ₦5.266 billion in 5,558 deals.

The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 387.94 million shares exchanged for ₦3.233 billion. Conglomerates came next with 49.987 million shares traded for ₦0.077 billion, Consumer Goods, Oil And Gas, Industrial Goods sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.

FCMB Holding Plc, FBN Holding Plc, Transnational Corporation Plc. Zenith Bank Plc and United Bank for Africa Plc were the most active stocks by volume. Dangote Sugar Plc, National Salt Company of Nigeria, C & I Leasing Plc, Okomu Oil Plc and Honey well Flour Mill emerged the highest price gainers on the chart, while CCNN,  Dangote Cement, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Wapco Plc and Zenith Bank Plc topped the losers chart. At the close of business 103 stock was traded with 23 gainers and 27 losers, while 53 share price remained unchanged.
