Pioneer Vice Chancellor of Nigeria’s first Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State and frontline Bayelsa state governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor(Mrs) Ongoebi Etebu has expressed her readiness to deploy her wealth of experience and expertise for the development of the party and state when given the opportunity to serve.
Etebu restated this while unveiling her manifesto in Yenagoa, the state capital on her conviction to serve the state in the capacity of being the party’s standard bearer, come Friday, April 14th, 2023.
The Bayelsa state governorship polls was scheduled by the Independent national electoral Commission (INEC) to hold on November, 11th, 2023.
To this end the governorship hopeful has maintained that as a pioneer Commissioner in the late Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha’s government she impacted positively on the state through legacy projects, noting that schools and other public infrastructure were build under her watch as Commissioner in Government then.
She said: “The legacy projects, Schoold, and other public infrastructural projects executed under my watch as a Commissioner in the late Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha’s administration which of course impacted are still impacting positively on the state are still standing tall till date”.
The ex-Vice Chancellor stated that as a woman of virtue with the fear of God and innate integrity she has all it would require to make the APC win when given the chance to lead the party and state.

These firsts according to National Wire source include, but not limited to her being the first Professor of Mechanical Engineering in Nigeria, four different Masters degrees as well as two Doctorate degrees in the fields of chemical, industrial and mechanical engineering, respectively.
This was even as she has again recommitted to bringing her calculative proficiencies to provide workable solutions to the myriads of challenges plaguing Bayelsa, one of thr topmost oil and gas rich state in Nigeria.
Reiterating that she is not new to politics and corporate governance as many might have thought, Etebu asserted that was the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Maritime University Okerenkoko, and had earlier served as Dean, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Port Harcourt.
National Wire further gathered that Professor Ongoebi Maureen Etebu began her Intellectual sojourn as an academic having schooled abroad and locally, and that she has been equiped with the best kind of knowledge and expertise to excel in politics and governance when she is given the party’s mandate to fly its flag in the forthcoming poll.
She said: I’m married with children, I call on party faithful to be peaceful and calm, the race for Creek Haven(Bayesa Government House) is one that all aspirants must see themselves as brothers and sisters who are working for the good of the State and as such there would be no victor or vanquish”.
National Wire source reports that Professor (Mrs) Etebu had been screened and cleared by the national governorship elections aspirants committee of the APC to contest for the party’s primaries holding on Friday, 14th April, 2023, in the state.
“As a woman and mother with intellectual expertise, and vast background of corporate service to humanity and public service, I’ll therefore advocate the rights of all. I’ll give the state better chance in achieving set goals that can bring drastic change and lasting developmental legacies in the Glory of all lands”, the governorshi aspirant added.
