A vandal on Friday in Niger State has met his Waterloo trying to steal cables from a power transformer.
The incident that happened in the premises of the Niger State Printing Press in Minna, the state capital left the unidentified vandal dead at the early hours of the day.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the corpse of the man was found hanging on the transformer on Friday morning.
Head of the Legal Unit of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, Aminu Ubandoma, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Minna.
He disclosed that the company was working with security agencies, especially with the police, to ensure the rate of transformer vandalism was reduced to the barest minimum.
The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun also confirmed the incident saying a suspected electrocution/vandalism was reported to the police.
Vandals in various communities nationwide have been responsible for plunging communities into darkness and untold hardship by vandalising electrical installations.
Communities have sometime engaged services of local guards to man electrical and other public equipments to forestall vandalism.
