The Adamawa State Police Command is to fish out violators and abusers of police uniform and accoutrements.
To achieve that, the state command has set up a taskforce team to arrest and prosecute offenders.
While describing the initiative as part of the efforts to restore law and order in the state, Police Spokesperson of the state, DSP Suleiman Yahaya noted that the command has observed how some members of the Civil groups, Vigilantes and other Quasi security outfits do impersonate police by wearing police uniforms, accountriments and Police logos.
DSP Nguroge explained on Saturday that such act is “tarnishing the good image of the force.
“The Command having observed that, set up a taskforce team to checkmate, apprehend and prosecute offenders.
In view of the above, the Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adeyanyu enjoins citizens of the state to cooperate with the taskforce team as they carry out the full enforcement of the rule of law.
He, however, warned offenders to desist from impersonating the police and operate within the context of the law.
The command further assures all of its commitment to protecting lives and properties and call on people to report any suspicious movement around them to police.
