In a relentless efforts to ensure illegally acquired firearms and smuggled drugs do not get to criminals, the Kebbi Police Command has nabbed one Abdulrazak Agboola of Iyana Ajiya area of Ibadan, Oyo State and others.
It was learnt that Agboola was arrested on the 12th September, 2023 about 2130hrs, by a team of Police Border patrol with 7,500 live cartridges.
The intercepted container truck with Reg No. IT 21608 LA, Lagos State, had on it 7,500 live cartridges, and 4,906 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be indian hemp, with market value of N300, 000 000.
During preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to have been hired by yet to be identified people to convey the recovered exhibits to Lagos State from the Republic of Ghana.
Making this disclosure on Thursday, the spokesperson of the command, SP Nafiu Abubakar added that on the 10th September, 2023 about 1913hrs, Police Boarder Patrol, attached to Saranfo-Maje road, Tsamiya district of Bagudo LGA of Kebbi State, during a routine “stop and search,’ intercepted another container Truck with Reg. No. IT 21520 LA, Lagos State.
A search conducted led to the recovery of 4,927 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be indian hemp, worth N300, 000, 000.
As a result, one Emmanuel Chukwuma of Bende LGA, Abia State; Kanta Bisa of Asaka LGA, Ghana Republic and Shola Adeyemi of Olufan, Akure LGA, Ondo State were arrested.
However, investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects and those behind the drugs
In the light of the above, the Command’s has warned drug smugglers and peddlers to desist from their criminal acts as they ready and determined to deal with them and others criminals to its barest minimum.
He called on members of the public to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies by given timely and accurate information for prompt response.
