Police nab robbers for attempting to kill DPO

Two members of an armed robbery gang who, yesterday, shot and injured the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Ogbere Division, Csp Adeyinka Akingbade, have been arrested by the operatives of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS) for attempting to kill the DPO.
The DPO, who received a distress call about the robbers who had invaded an hotel in Itele-Ijebu, had led his men to the scene but was ambushed by the robbers who shot him severally at close range. 
On receiving the information, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, gave a marching order to the Officer in-Charge FSARS, DSP Uba Adam, to fish out the perpetrators within 24 hours
According to a police source, the FSARS team swung into action immediately and their effort paid off after six hours when the hideout of the robbers was located.
“On sighting the Policemen, the robbers engaged them in a gun battle which lasted for about an hour,” said our source. 
Two suspects, Wasiu Ganiyu and Azeez Komolafe, were arrested while the leader of the gang, simply known as Mungo Park, was shot dead. Other members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds.
Recovered from them were two AK47 riffles with 120 rounds of ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police, who was highly elated about the performance of the FSARS men, appealed to members of the public, especially hospitals, to report anybody seen with gunshot wound to the Police.
He also prayed for the quick recovery of the DPO whom he described as one of the best performing DPOs in the Command.
