Police In Niger Arrest 45-Year Old Man, With Stolen Toyota Camry Car

A 45- year old notorious Car snatcher, identified as one Baba Aliyu, ‘m’ has been arrested by Police Operatives attached to Gawu Babangida Division in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger state,  under the  state Police Command.

Also recovered  in possession of the suspected car thief,  was a Toyota Camry car marked : Abuja RSH 379 AP, following a tip off by concerned citizens on Friday 26th June,  2020, at about 16: 30 hours along Minna- Suleja road.

This was contained in  a Crime Bulletin issued  by the Police Public Relations Officer, of the state Police Command, ASP Wasiu. A. Abiodun, a copy of which was made available to journalists last Tuesday in Minna the state capital .

The Bulletin added that the  suspect, upon interception by the Police patrol team attached to Gawu Babangida Division of the Command, in Gurara local government area of the state,   was said to have refused to stop.

The Crime  Bulletin added that the patrol team gave the vehicle a hot chase, following which the the suspected car thief who was the  driver of the vehicle hurriedly  abandoned the vehicle  at Lambata with the  view to  escape arrest by the police  and took to his heels.

It stated further further that  the Policemen thereby gave the suspect a hot   chase after which  he was shot on the leg before his arrest could be made possible and was eventually  rushed to the hospital for treatment.

ASP Wasiu A. Abiodun said, the suspect was later identified as one Baba Aliyu ‘m’ aged 45years old and a  resident  of Lambata, in same   Gurara LGA.

He said, “preliminary investigation  revealed that, the vehicle was stolen at Fowad Libabidi Mosque, Wuse Zone 3, in  Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory”,

The PPRO, however assured that the case was still  undergoing  investigation, while the suspect will be arraigned  in court as soon as investigation was concluded.
