The Plateau State government has expressed its willingness to partner with the Bank of Industry (BOI) in the revitalization of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state. Speaking in Jos, the state capital, at the BOI North East customer forum, the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Rufus Bature, said the people of the state have become more aware in business and are now willing to take risks, unlike in the past when they were not taking such risks.
He called on BOI to establish its branch in the state in order to intensively cater for the MSMEs, adding that the state government is willing to provide the building for the take-off of such branch. He also stated that the state has become relatively peaceful and that the bank will flourish when established.
In his presentation, the Director General, Plateau State Micro Finance Development Agency, Haggai Gutap, said the most challenging aspect of small businesses is access to credit facilities. He however noted that BOI and other development banks are making effort to ensure that people have credit as at when due.
