Plans are underway to partner with federal government for the construction of Four Critical roads in Niger- Gov. Sani Bello

Niger State Governor, Alhaji  Abubakar Sani Bello,  has said that plans are underway to partner with the federal government to commence  the construction of four major critical  roads in the state.

Governor Sani Bello stated this in Lapai, headquarters of Lapai Local Government , during his mid-term assessment tour of the 25 Local Governments of the state over the weekend, adding  that the project will cost over N50 billion.

According to him “I am in talks with the federal government to support us and I see a situation where we join hands with the federal government to do the roads.

“We need a little above N50 billion to fix four major critical roads in the state.

These four trunk A roads which include Lapai/Gulu/Evuti/Muye road, Kompani Bobi/Bangi road, Luma/Agwara road and Pandogari/Allawa/Erena roads are very important especially the affected ones because I believe it will add value in terms of economy and these are agricultural potential areas”, he stated .

While explaining that the tour was designed to get firsthand information from the people on areas where they need government”s intervention, he insisted that government cannot be planning and working without input from the people, hence the mid-term assessment.

“We are on working visit to our local government areas and not on any campaign as it is being insinuated. We are on tour to get firsthand information on the needs of our people with a view to solving those that require immediate intervention and those that cannot be addressed immediately will be capture in the supplementary or 2018 budget.

“I strongly believe our budget should be people oriented and not a budget that we sit down in Minna (state capital) to write. We need to go to the people, know their needs, areas of challenge and reflect it in the budget so that we can address those issues that are of great concern to our people,” he told a large crowd at the palace of Etsu Lapai, Alhaji Umar Bago Tafida.

The governor who has visited 15 of the 25 local government councils so far said the tour has been a huge success and revealed  that henceforth future budgets of the state will be guided more by the needs of the people.
