Ovu, SDP Aspirant, Meets Urohi Elders In Benin City

…seeks support to clinch House of Assembly election

In a bid to garner needed support from the grassroot and in his immediate community with a view to having desired advantage in the 2023 general election, Gwin Oseghale Ovu of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has began consultation with stakeholders and the elders of Urohi Community resident in Benin City, Edo State.

In a meeting held in Benin City on Friday, Gwin Oseghale Ovu, who is vying for the Edo State House of Assembly,
noted with enthusiasm that the interest of the people is paramount in his quest to represent Esan West Constituency.

He observed after a deepened, fruitful discussions with the elders of his community, Urohi who are resident in Benin City, that with their blessings, support and encouragement, he has a brighter prospects in the 2023 general election.

While stressing the importance of the electorate to ensure they are registered with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), he used the opportunity of the one-on-one meeting to educate them concerning how they could be registered to have their Personal Voters Card (PVC) that would guarantee them to be able to express their franchise in the forthcoming election.

He reminded them that their PVC remains their strongest harmless weapon towards exercising voting rights or franchise.

“We are using the cell structure, one-on-one reach out, street and area mapping and meeting individuals at the moment,” Ovu reemphasized.

Adding, “It was all about consultation, deepened discussions and seeking for massive support to represent my people. It was a great time with some elders of Urohi kingdom who resides in Benin City.”

During the meeting with had Pa Isaac Ogbeifun, Mr Saturday Osagiede and Mr Festus Obhue among other distinguished personalities of Urohi Kingdom, the SDP aspirant appealed to every son and daughter including relatives “to register, redirect or transfer their voters registration to the wards they are from.

This, according to the Barrister in Law will galvanise into more votes and change the political equation and dynamics of Urohi Kingdom, a community that has never had the singular opportunity of having its subject represented at the Edo State House of Assembly.

“We can only change things if we get involved and take this exercise seriously. We have seen how voters registration turn out is gaining momentum all over the country? Let us key in and bridge the gap of marginalisation.

In his response, Pa Issac Ogbeifun welcomed him warmly and for taken the bold initiative to meet with the elders.

“You are our son and we would support, encourage you to succeed in your political career,” Pa Ogbeifun reiterated.

Esan West Constituency is made up of 10 wards which consist of Urohi, Ekpoma and Iruekpen in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
