Otuoke Community Applauds Governor Diri’s Infrastructural Revolution, Pleads For Canalization Project, IDPs Camp

Following the successful completion of reconstruction of the Onuebum-Otuoke road project and the renovation/ remodelled works on the Dame Patience Jonathan square in Otuoke community in the Ogbia Local Government Area by the Governor Douye Diri’s led prosperity administration of Bayelsa state, the leadership of the community have continued to express their appreciation to the state government.

To this end, the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), Comrade John Godfrey Okubowei and the Secretary, Comrade Ifiola Moses have described the state governor, Senator Douye Diri as development oriented leader.

The duo noted that in less than one year upon the award of the road project for reconstruction and the reconstruction of the Dame Jonathan’s pavilion, the governor has fulfilled his promise of timely completion.

The CDC leadership described the two projects as perfect examples of democratic dividends from a leader per excellence.

Similarly, in a bid to prevent the devastating effects of floods in the future, the leadership of the Otuoke community’s CDC have called on government to carryout canalization projects in areas identified as flashpoints of flood in the community.

The community added that government should also construct an Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) camp in the community to forestall accommodation deficit of the community during floods.

The Otuoke CDC leaders said: “We want to thank the governor for the projects he has executed and others he plans to execute in this community. In particular we appreciate him for the Onuebum-Otuoke road whose reconstruction has just been finished. What about the Patience Jonathan Square? And other projects he has in mind to carry out in this community. We want to thank him for this impactful projects.

“We also want to plead with the governor who has already done well for the community to amongst other future projects he plans executing across the state to carry out the canalization project of areas we’ve identified as flood flashpoints. And we also want to plead for the construction of an IDP camp in this community to provide alternative accommodation for people during flooding emergency”.
