The Otuaba community of the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa state Sunday elected new members of its youth executives.
National Wire which monitored the elections which held in the community reports that Comrade Freeman Midida Okara emerged un-opposed as new Youth President.
Speaking with newsmen during the elections, outgoing Youth President of the community, Comrade Precious Oki said the elections became necessary to put to an end insinuations that the community was disunited due to their hitherto inability to conduct an election for transition of power in the past four years.
Declaring the result, Chairman of the community’s 2024 Youths election electoral committee, Comrade Daniel Otazi announced Okara as winner, having been the only presidential candidate who succeeded after the screening exercise which was carried out by the electoral umpire few days to the polls.
He also said all other positions vied by aspirants also has only one aspirant each, hence all the line aspirants for their respective positions were elected and returned unopposed.
It would be recalled that there were insinuations that the Otuaba community has recently been embroiled in leadership tussle. However, the outgoing youth president of the community, Precious Oki has said with the elections conducted peacefully, the insinuations have been put to rest as the community is united.
Meanwhile, in his victory speech, the Otuaba community new youth president, Okara has promised to run an open-door policy.
He restated his resolve towards ensuring peace, unity and progress of the community, noting that he was willing to partner all well-meaning individuals in and outside the community to work for the development of the community.
Okara who said he has been working closely with successive leadership of the community also pledge his readiness to coordinate a vigilante group to secure lives and properties of residence of the community, saying that under his stewardship support would also be given to all positive youth actives of the community.
National Wire reports that Otuaba community is one of the host communities of the Federal University, Otuoke in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa state with a large students population as residents.
Other members of the youth executive are, Comrade Alex Maddock Ogbogi, Vice President, Comrade Nyaluaziba John Otuma, Secretary, Comrade Wisdom Prosper Obolo, Treasure, while Comrade Shekinah Opukumo is to serve as Financial Secretary.
