Two weeks after 16 soldiers of the Nigerian Army were brutally murdered at Okuama Community in Delta State, their remains will be interred on Wednesday, 27th March, 2024 in Abuja.
The burial is slated at the National Cemetery, Abuja, and was disclosed on Tuesday on the Nigerian Army’s X handle.
According to the information made available, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be the Special Guest of Honour at the event.
The soldiers, including the Commanding Officer of 181 Amphibious Battalion, Lt Col Hassan Ali, two Majors, a Captain and 12 Soldiers were ambushed and slaughtered in the most ignoble and dehumanizing manner after they were said to have gone for peace building between Okuama and Okoloba Community who were at loggerheads over a piece of land in Bomadi.
Meanwhile, as a result of the brutal murder, President Tinubu gave the military the powers to fish out the criminals responsible for the killings and bring them to justice.
In similar stride, the military have vowed not to relent in their oars until the criminals responsible for the dastardly acts are brought to book.
Since the incident took place, there have been sustained military action within and around Okuama and in the neighbouring communities while tracking the criminals behind the noxious act.
