OAIC, UN Women Plan Workshop to Educate Religious Leaders on Fight Against GBV

The Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC) said it has partnered with the UN Women in the fight against the perpetration of all forms of gender based violence (GBV).

OAIC called on religious leaders and other individuals to be involved in the fight against violences especially with women.

National President, Baba Aladura, Israel Akinadewo, made the call in a release, prior to a ‘Two-day Sensitisation Workshop on GBV Prevention for OAIC’s Faith Leaders in Nigeria’, holding Thursday 17 and Friday, October 18 in Ikeja, Lagos State.

Akinadewo who said the workshop is a collaboration with UN Women, LEAP, Ford Foundation and OAIC, noted that the programme will create more awareness on GBV, as there is need “for gender based violence awareness, causes, prevention and how religious leaders could facilitate the eradication.”
