After losing some points yesterday, trading on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) regained its momentum on Wednesday September 20, 2017 by 1.04 percent bringing the year to date return to 31.01 percent.
The All Share Index closed at 35,207.89 against the previous close of 34,846.82 while Market Capitalization closed at N12.137 trillion against previous close of N12.012 trillion. Volume traded decreased by 21.36 percent from 174.656 million to 137.351 million.
While the total value of stock traded decreased by 59.92 percent from N2.829 billion to N1.134 billion in 2,977 deals. The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 74.952 million shares exchanged for N0.513 billion. Industrial Goods came next with 21.348 million shares traded for N0.111 billion.
Conglomerates, Consumer Goods, Construction/Real Estate sectors followed in that order on the activity chart. Meyer Plc, Access Bank Plc, Transnational Corporation Plc, FCMB Holding Plc, and Fidelity Bank Plc were the most active stocks by volume.
May & Baker Plc, Continental Re- Insurance Plc, 7Up Bottling Company Plc, Linkage Assurance Plc and Oando Plc emerged the highest price gainers. While NPF Microfinance Bank Plc, National Salt Company Of Nigeria Plc, Neimeth International Pharmaceutical Plc, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc and AXA Mansard Insurance Plc topped the losers table. In all a total of 104 companies shares were traded with 19 gainers and 20 losers, while 65 shares prices were unchanged.
