After losing 0.91 percent, on Monday, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) key market indicators on Tuesday August 22, 2017 bounced back on the positive track with 1.03 percent appreciation, bringing the year to date return to 37.54 percent.
At the closing of business the All Share Index closed at 36,962.48 against the previous close of 36,584.44 while Market Capitalization closed at N12.740 trillion against previous close of N12.610 trillion.
Volume traded decreased by 33.68 percent from 368.382 million to 244.315 million, while the total value of stock traded decreased by 41.45 percent from N6.273 billion to N3.673 billion in 3,829 deals.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 103.642 million shares exchanged for N1.337 billion. Agriculture came next with 101.421 million shares traded for N0.117 billion, Consumer Goods, Conglomerates, Services sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
Livestock Feed Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc, Sterling Bank Plc, and Dangote Sugar were the most active stocks by volume. Caverton, Total Nigeria Plc, C & I Leasing Plc, UAC Properties Development Company Plc, and Skye Bank Plc emerged the highest price gainers.
while Conoil Plc, Neimeth Pharmaceutical Plc, Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc, UAC Nigeria Plc and May & Baker Plc topped the losers table. In all a total of 90 companies share were traded with 22 gainers and 22 losers, while 46 share prices remained unchanged.
