For the financial year ended December 31, 2017, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) generated N299billion.
The Authority had at the beginning of 2017 set for itself revenue target of N286billion.
Speaking at the weekend, Managing Director of NPA, Hadizat Bala Usman commended all stakeholders for making the year a success, adding that efforts are in top gear to compel some terminal operators to pay their debt.
Speaking during an interview with TVC, Bala Usman said revenue leakages had been blocked while online mode of payment are in place to facilitate prompt revenue collections.
According to her, level playing field are in place to encourage all operators in the sector.
She said the Authority boast of level playing field, pointing out that shipping firms are encourage to call at eastern ports with flat bottom vessels.
On the recent face off with INTELS, Bala Usman explained that it had nothing to do with politics.S
he said:“its not politics. They (INTELS) later apologized and complied with the TSA policy”.
