The Northern Senators Forum has condemned the recent violent attacks in Kwara, Katsina, and Benue states that reportedly claimed more than 130 lives.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yaradua, the forum expressed condolences to the governments and people of the affected states, describing the attacks as brutal and senseless.
The forum sympathised with the families of the victims and offered prayers for the repose of the departed souls, noting that the incidents underscore the persistent insecurity facing the country.
While acknowledging the efforts of security agencies, the forum urged citizens to cooperate with them by promptly reporting suspicious activities. It also called on the federal government to increase the recruitment of security personnel to effectively respond to the growing threats.
The forum assured the governments and people of Kwara, Katsina, and Benue States of its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at addressing the root causes of insecurity and strengthening national stability.
