Nigerian Army has said its troops successfully repelled Boko Haram terrorists who wanted to take over the position of the military,killing 76 of the insurgents.
In a statement on Wednesday through its official social media handle,the Army also said it lost seven of its men while 16 were also wounded during the attack near Kangarwa in Borno State.
“Gallant troops of 157 Battalion decisively engaged BHTs who attempted to overrun their Position near Kangarwa in Borno State,” the statement said.
It said the sustained “superior firepower” of the troops led to what it called the “neutralization” of 76 Boko Haram Terrorists.
“Unfortunately, the NA lost seven soldiers while 16 were wounded in action,” it added.
The statement, said the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai, has commiserated with the families of the deceased.
He also directed that the wounded soldiers be given adequate medical attention.
