…recovers AK 47 rifle
Troops of Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA, under the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have recorded another significant success in the sustained effort to rid the state of criminal elements and illegal arms.
Acting on credible intelligence, on 12th November, 2025, troops conducted a raid operation at Shagada Village under Namnai Ward in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, which led to the arrest of a suspected gun-runner identified as Mr Abdulmudallabi Audu, aged 25, who was found in possession of arms and ammunition.
According to the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad disclosed in a statement that items recovered from the suspect included One AK-47 rifle; two AK-47 magazines; 53 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The suspect and the recovered exhibits are currently in the custody of 6 Brigade Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their vigilance, professionalism, and swift response to actionable intelligence.
He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations across Taraba State to ensure peace, security, and the protection of law-abiding citizens within the North East and adjoining regions.
He further urged members of the public to continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring lasting peace in the state.
