Contrary to a report published on the website of the Voice of Nigeria (VoN), titled “Morocco Defeats Nigeria to Win First-Ever WAFCON Title”, by Samuel Isaiah, that sent panic down the spines of Nigerians following online,i Ngeria’s Super Falcons have been crowned champions of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after a thrilling 3-2 victory over host nation Morocco at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
The win marks Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title, completing their self-dubbed “Mission X” in style.
Morocco opened the scoring through captain Ghizlane Chebbak, sending the home crowd into raptures. But Nigeria, the most successful team in the tournament’s history, responded with characteristic resilience.

Nigeria continued to apply pressure, with Abiodun going close with a stinging half-volley in the 94th minute that narrowly missed the target. The referee added six minutes of stoppage time, during which Asisat Oshoala was subbed on to help manage the closing moments.
