Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago of Niger State, has said that the budget implementation for May 29 to December 19 2023 under review, during the 2024 budget presentation.
During the presentation, the State Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago, hilighted that under the 2023 implementation transformation efforts for a New and Sustainable Niger, the government carried out groundbreaking of urban renewal projects in Minna and the Ring Road project in Bida, Bida Local Government Area of the State, paid 20perxentsubsidy on 100 Numbers fo trucks of fertilizers, paid counterparts arrears to Donor Supported Projects in the State, such as ATAPS, Niger G-CARES, Value Chain Development, FADAMA, AGILE, Acresal Projects and others.
The Governor stated further that the state government supported dry season farmers for the cultivation of 4,000 hectares of land, procurement of 200 units of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Buses for ease of transportation, repaired and fixed 33 number existing Niger State Transport Authority buses, paid N3.5Billion compensation on Minna–Bida road, repaired Dr. Abubakar Imam Kagara International Airport Minna, hosted the first Green Economy Summit, settled N600Million debt owed the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), secured approval for the establishment of the Niger State University of Education to be known as A.A. Kure University, paid outstanding debts to WAEC and NECO, converted former Shiroro Hotel into IBBU Teaching Hospital(IBBUTH).
According to him other implementation for 2023, is procurement of more Equipment for IBB Specialist Hospital Minna , placement of Medical Students on Salary Grade Level 10, engagement of 1,000 Health workers and 26 Medical Doctors, development of the Three Arms Zone, re-construction of the SSG’s Office, establishment of Gold Shop, procurement of 15 number Compactor Refuse Collection Van, carried out from May 29 to December 19, 2023 under review.
