Niger govt distributes relief materials worth N25million to victims of the communities ravaged by flood

Niger state government in conjunction with the State Emergency Management Agency(NSEMA) has given out relief materials estimated at about N25millim to victims of the several communities displaced by flood disasters in Mokwa local government of the state.
The Director General NSEMA, Mallam Ahmed Ibrahim Inga informed our reporter in Minna, the state capital, adding that the agency has also provided three tents with the capacity of accommodating 100 displaced persons. each as temporary shelters for victims from Ketso village, home town of the state’s Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso, until permanent solution was prof erred by the state government .
According to him, the items donated were bags of rice, corn, millet among others, highlighting further that no fewer than about 60 communities were affected by flood, following a heavy rainfall last week in the local government areas.
Earlier, the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, during an on the spot assessment of the flood disaster at Guzan village last Thursday, he had directed the state emergency management Agency’s personnel to provide immediate relief and temporary camps to the victim when he met with the representatives of the affected communities in Mokwa and Edati Local governments of the state.
Mallam Inga said the relief items were meant to mitigate the effects of the displacement of the victims by flood in Gbara, Jebba, Muregi and Jagi wards.
He said materials for Gbara and Muregi wards were taken to Wuyakede community and that of Jagi were delivered at Jagi, while those of Ketso and its environs were received at Guzan respectively.
He said items such as clothing and other household materials are being moblised for onward distribution to affected persons accordingly.
