‎NGX Launches Net-Zero Programme To Promote Sustainable Finance ‎

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Group has launched the NGX Net-Zero Programme, a groundbreaking initiative designed to support listed companies in defining net-zero pathways and improving climate-related disclosures.

‎The launch ceremony, held at the NGX building in Lagos on Thursday, was attended by key stakeholders from the financial sector.

‎The programme aims to align Nigerian companies with global investor expectations on climate action and sustainable growth.

‎The NGX believes that urgent steps are needed to address climate change and promote sustainable growth.

‎The initiative is a collaboration with partners including the German Government Investment Corporation (KFW), the German Investment and Development Company (DEG), and the African Foresight Group (AFG).

‎The NGX Group Chairman, Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, expressed confidence that the programme would enable the Nigerian Exchange and capital market to become Africa’s premier hub for green and sustainable finance solutions.

‎He urged listed companies to sign up to the initiative and follow the guidelines.

‎The NGX expects many of its listed companies to participate in the programme over the next few months. The initiative is expected to promote sustainable finance practices and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.

‎By launching the NGX Net-Zero Programme, the Nigerian Exchange is taking a significant step towards promoting sustainable finance and supporting the country’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
