New PFN Leader, Davids: ‘I Dedicated Hours Praying for Lagos Church, Unaware of What Was Ahead’

Newly inaugurated Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Lagos State chapter, Pastor Akinyemi Davids, has revealed that he spent significant time praying for the church in Lagos without knowing what the future held for him.

“I dedicated hours praying for Lagos Church, unaware of what was ahead,” Davids shared during his inauguration ceremony.

On Saturday, the PFN Lagos chapter officially installed Pastor Davids, who leads the Global Impact Church, as its new Chairman. The event, held at the Covenant Nation in Lagos, was attended by several distinguished church leaders, including the National President of PFN, Bishop Wale Oke, the General Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church, Rev. Sam Aboyeji, and Rev. Mercy Ezekiel of the Christian Pentecostal Ministry.

Archbishop Joseph Ojo, the National Chairman of the Inauguration Committee, conducted the rites of inauguration in the presence of other Christian leaders and followers.

During the event, Reverend Sam Aboyeji acknowledged that while the current leadership team of Lagos PFN may not be considered the best by everyone, they are the ones chosen for this moment. He expressed confidence in their success, emphasizing the critical role of understanding purpose.

“When purpose is known, every other thing will fall in place,” he remarked.

Bishop Wale Oke echoed this sentiment in his remarks, stating that although Pastor Davids may not be the best by human standards, “because he is the chosen, he is the best.” He further emphasized that the new era Lagos PFN has been praying for has now arrived, urging the body to close the old chapter and move forward.

In his inaugural speech, Pastor Davids acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence that God would bring about a new dawn for Lagos PFN. He underscored the importance of unity within the church, stating that “a divided house cannot make an impact.”

“We are going to work on reconciliation of aggrieved parties, we are going to work on the unity of the church as the Lord gives the grace. We are working on those who have been hurt by the process,” Davids said.

Reflecting on his journey, Pastor Davids shared that he had spent a considerable amount of time praying for the church in Lagos long before he was called to lead the body. “I spent extensive time praying for Lagos Church. I never knew this was going to come up. The body of Christ will wax stronger and stronger while the house of Saul will grow weaker and weaker,” he assured.

Davids also stressed the need for renewal within the PFN. “We believe PFN needs to focus on the reality of the name Pentecostal. It is not Pentecostal Political Party; it is Pentecostal Fellowship, so we need to come together in love to make an impact in our society and live up to our billing,” he stated.

He concluded by highlighting that the strength of the PFN lies in the spiritual vitality of its members. “The number we have today came from our focus on spiritual impact so we don’t become a shell having a name without relevance. The glory you bring to the fellowship is the glory you have from where you are coming from. If we neglect our primary assignment, we might not have what to offer to the body,” he said.
