Nemesis: As Former Maritime Academy Trainee Impersonates As Navy Lieutenant 

The Nigerian Navy Ship VICTORY has made a giant stride in its campaign to rid the maritime sector of some undesirable elements as it has arrested and handed over a former Maritime Academy trainee in Oron for impersonating as a Naval Lieutenant.

Also handed over was his partner in crime, who also claimed to be a. naval Midshipman.

The two suspected in military uniforms have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force State Criminal Investigation Department.

The suspects dressed in military camouflage were found to be in possession of fake military identity cards.

The suspects identified as Mr David Novert Aleji and Mr Mr Francis Gideon Isaac were handed over for investigation and prosecution following their arrest on Tuesday 10th March, 2026.

According to the Naval authority, a preliminary investigation revealed that Mr David Norbert was parading himself as a Nigerian Navy Lieutenant while Mr Francis Gideon was impersonating a Midshipman.

Both of them also claimed to be personnel serving onboard Nigerian Navy Ship SAGBAMA.

However, a subsequent search carried out at their residence led to the recovery of additional military-related items including a jungle hat and a pair of boots.

Further investigation revealed that Mr David Norbert was the mastermind as he had previously received some level of training at the Maritime Academy of Nigeria at Oron.

He reportedly recruited Mr Francis Gideon who stays with him at the residence of Mr David Aleji who is his father. The suspects further admitted that the camouflage vest, jungle hat and boots were purchased while the identity cards were produced by them.

The suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force State Criminal Investigation Department in line with extant procedures for further investigation and possible prosecution.
