A Niger Delta based group under the aegis of ex-agitators foundation (EAF) has hailed the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Major-General Barry Tariye Ndiomu(rtd) over his leadership strides in the programme and the Presidential panel on Anti-oil theft.
The EAF’s leadership who gave the Commendations in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital at the weekend expressed the regrets that the group was rather shocked as to the height of alleged desperation by one other group called ‘Movement for Sustainable Development of the Niger Delta(MSDND) which was aimed at tarnishing the good name and person of the PAP’s Interim Administrator.
The statement which was jointly signed by the national President of EAF, HRH Binididogan Ekes(Ovuru 1st, AKA Egbema 1), its national spokesman, MSC Opia Joshua, State Coordinators, Andabafa Opunama, Delta State, Emeka Igwe, Imo State, Nico Sintel, Akwa Ibom State, Frank Duduku, Cross River State, Chief Othello Mafemisin, Ondo State, Egebele Granville, Rivers State, Darikoro Alfred, Bayelsa State, Kingsley Nna, Abia State, and Chief Omor for Edo State, respectively Condemned the desperation heights of the MSDND.
The EAF described the MSDND as mushroom group, aimed at tarnishing the shining image and office of the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, (PAP), Major-General Barry Tariye Ndiomu (Rtd).
The joint statement by the EAF reads: “We condemn in entirety MSDND’s sinister and evil plot to force Federal Government to remove General Ndiomu from the leadership of PAP over his chairmanship work with the Special Investigative Panel (SIP) on oil theft in the Niger Delta.
“We will like to use this opportunity to warn other perpetrators and sponsors to desist from such despicable acts capable of causing disaffection amongst the stakeholders of the Programme and the Niger Delta region.
“We are therefore, using this opportunity to call on the presidency to give no ear to those going against the sound and progressive administration of Gen. Ndiomu for personal reasons, while stressing that the current amnesty boss remains one of the best things to have happened to the Niger Delta region in recent times.”
National Wire reports that the ex- agitators foundation (EAF), which is made up of 90% leaders of the 1st phase Presidential Amnesty Programme’s beneficiaries and its various state coordinators warned that they would not sit back and watch mischief makers with their usual antics of blackmails aimed at pulling down the PAP Interim Administrator whom they described as ‘a man with so much dreams and aspirations for the programme, its beneficiaries and Niger Delta at large”.
The EAF joint statement further reads: “Maj-General Barry Ndiomu (rtd) is a man of integrity and we have full confidence in his ability to make the ex-agitators of the amnesty programme self-sufficient and well-rounded citizens of our beloved nation.
“Since his inception into office, the retired, but not tired General has had multiple productive interfaces with government and corporate agencies to ensure proper reintegration of delegates of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
“He has also ensured prompt and regular payments of stipends and allowances of Amnesty beneficiaries. Furthermore, he has restored sanity and transparency into the Programme, beside demonstrating sufficient commitment towards the sustenance of peace and development of the Niger Delta region.
“It is on the strength of this outstanding performance that we hereby pass a vote of confidence on him and call on the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, to continue to repose confidence in Ndiomu’s ability to effectively chair the Special Investigative Panel (SIP) on oil theft and also refocus the Presidential Amnesty Programme as the Administrator.”
