NCPC Boss Calls For Synergy Between Christians And Muslims

 

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja, has tasked Christians and Muslims to embrace peace and work in synergy to bring about the much needed change in the country. He made this charge during the inaugural meeting of NCPC and National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) conference planning committee at the NCPC headquarters in Abuja.

 

In his statement, the NCPC helmsman described the visit of the NAHCON executives as “a seal of friendship, brotherhood and partnership in the work of nation building”, stating that Nigerians should focus on the good of the nation despite the challenges. According to him, “if Christians and Muslims in Nigeria come together and take the project of nation building as our agenda, no nation can bring Nigeria down.”

 

Rev. Uja also stressed that the recession is a challenge for Nigerians to rebuild and restructure the social systems of the country stating that Nigeria is not a country for only one religion, tribe or group.  “Nigerians should embrace one another and fight collectively to preserve, build and reposition Nigeria appropriately on the map of the world”.

 

The NCPC boss informed that despite the financial challenges in the country, the government has remained supportive of pilgrimage and therefore charged pilgrims on productivity. His words, “pilgrimage must be productive to Nigeria and pilgrims must come back with new ideas and lifestyles that will benefit the Nigerian economy”. He added, “It is time for Nigeria to rule the world, and we can start by restructuring and creating a template for productivity.”

 

The Chairman of NAHCON, Alhaji Muktar Mohammed, commended the Executive Secretary of NCPC for his great visions for Nigeria and for initiating the process for the two commissions to work together for national peace, integration and towards mobilization of the two faith to understand and appreciate their differences. He stated that the management staff has the moral responsibility to support the cause and ensure the success of the project.

 

The NAHCON helmsman stated that he believes pilgrimage should add value to the national economy. He further informed that NAHCON had begun a Hajj Saving Scheme that would benefit both the intending pilgrims and the national economy. He added that Nigerians need to support the government for the country to move forward.

 

He further stressed that as managers of faith-based institutions, NCPC and NAHCON can achieve the goal of peace and nation building.
