The Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Pauline Tallen has called for the inclusion and increase of women participation in governance and politics at all level.
She made the call at the 10th Triennial delegate conference of NAWOJ holding at the Hon. Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna the Niger State capital.
Represented by a veteran broadcaster, Moji Makonjola the Minister, said she will be glad to see women in Nigeria producing Vice President of Nigeria and other important positions in 2023 general polls .
Mrs. Pauline Tallen who frowned at the way in which gender based violence has become endemic in the country, would want Women Journalists to rise to the occasion to change the ugly trend.
The State Governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello reminded leadership of NAWOJ that the only redeeming strategy for attaining their rightful places in contemporary Nigeria was for them to imbibe the virtues of honesty and renewed commitment in actualizing their dreams.
Represented by his deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso the governor would also want the incoming Exco of NAWOJ to redouble their efforts in fighting for the rights and privileges of their members regardless of religious or cultural differences.
National Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Chris Isiguzo who commended maturity of delegates to “Niger 2020”, said, “the union will continue to support and assist NAWOJ to succeed at all times”.
In his goodwill message, the Emir of Minna, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Faruk Bahago, represented by the Tambarin Minna, Alhaji Mohammed She pleaded with Women Journalists to use the power of their pen to impress on federal government to commence rehabilitation of bad roads in Niger state.
NAWOJ Chairperson Niger State chapter Mrs. Mary Noel Berje commended all those who have contributed to the success of the 10th Triennial Delegate Conference of NAWOJ and advised delegates to sustain the tempo.
