Paramount ruler of Emeyal one community in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, HRH Isaac Azikiwe Ibebel has said his ascendancy to the throne of his ancestors was ‘miraculous’ and ‘divine’.
The royal father who revealed this to newsmen yesterday during a chat said he least expected to become the king of his community, noted also that he was more concerned about maintaining the prevailing peace and tranquility in the community as a former serving Chairman of the Emeyal one Community Development Committee (CDC) prior to his ascension to the throne.
The traditional ruler who said he never lobbied nor has any intentions of clinching the much coveted stool averred that it became even more surprising when the kingmakers after rigorous consultations and search pronounced him as the ‘gods’ chosen ruler of his people.
He noted that the community went through meticulous search for who the gods of the land has ordained as monarch before openly declaring him as monarch.
According to him, after a few years of interregnum, it was befitting and beautiful that the ancient community now has a substantive paramount ruler who would serve as the link between the living and the ancestors.
The monarch said: “I never thought I’ll one day become paramount ruler of this community. Though many years ago a couple of prophets and the clergy have told me that I’ll become king over my people, but I hardly had believed any of them till it happened recently that I was coronated miraculously.
“As a serving CDC chairman of the community between 2020-2024, I was just contented with that my former position even as I was before the kingmakers and other members of the community making my handing over remarks and documents before the pronouncement that I’ve been chosen by the gods of this land as paramount ruler.
“Upon hearing my name mentioned as new paramount ruler of the community I initially almost ran out of the town hall, but was held bound by the entire community. Infact I cried when they insisted that I must ascend the throne of my forebearers knowing that I wasn’t contemplating that”.
