MAN ARRESTED FOR KILLING WIFE

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Mathew Oguntade who resides behind Anglican Church, Owode-Ijako for killing his 20 year old wife, Mary Oguntade.

The incident happened on Friday January 13, 2017 around mid-night. The couple were said to have started fighting due to a minor disagreement between them.

The CDA Chairman of the Community, Mr.Iskilu Kareem who reported the case to the Police said he received a telephone call from one of the vigilante group members in the area that the couple are at loggerheads but before he could get to their house, the husband had strangled his wife to death, threw the body outside through their window and ran away.

DPO Sango Ota, SP Akinsola Ogunwale led detectives to the scene, took the corpse to General Hospital, Ifo morgue before launching serious manhunt for the suspect.

Their efforts paid off the following day,saturday 14,2017 when the suspect was apprehended and taken to custody.

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu has directed that suspect be transferred to Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department Eleweran Abeokuta for a discrete investigation. He also appealed to members of the Public to always alert Police whenever they notice their neighbour engaging in fistcuff in order to avert this type of ugly incidence.
