A man who identified himself as Chuks Samson and returned, earlier this month, from Central London, England, where he grew up, has been beset by insanity and ended up roaming the streets of Lagos.
In a Facebook video posted on Wednesday by Anselm Ojietu, Samson said he is originally from Ogidi Town in Anambra State and he arrived Nigeria on December 5,2017, for the Christmas celebration, aboard Emirates Airline from London.
In an interview conducted by Ojietu around Ajao Estate, close to the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, the man also revealed he left his international passport at a Zenith Bank branch where he carried out a transaction
According to Samson,he was waiting for an information from his sister, Margaret James, who might also come to Nigeria for the Christmas holiday, even as he said he didn’t have a phone on him and that he was “in a way but not completely stranded in Lagos.”
Samson, occasionally dragging on a stick of cigarette, said he had been sleeping in the hotels around the area he was found for about N1,000 per night as well as “some of my friend’s houses,” with signs of failing memory as he sometimes groped for words.
“He remembered his name as Chuks Samson from Ogidi Town in Anambra State Nigeria. He came to Nigeria on the 5th of Dec. 2017 aboard Emirates Airline from London. His mental health might have deteriorated less than 24 hours after encountering the harsh economic reality, people face everyday. The STRESS and general WAHALA of Lagos life must have overwhelmed him. Pls SHARE until he gets a helper,” said Ojietu.
