Liqour vendors in Niger without license risk arrest

The chairman of Niger state Liqour licensing board, Barrister Yahaya Halidu has warned all liqour vendors operating in the state to obtain their licenses before the end of February as anyone caught selling liqour without a license would be arrested and arraigned before the court of law.

Barr.  Halladu , said the board will no longer tolerate the arbitrary sales of alcohol in the nooks and crannies of the state since there is an existing  law in place to regulate the sales of the products in the state.

He made this known after inspecting some of the demolished structures used for the sales of liqour in Minna, a place he stressed has become a meeting point for hoodlums .

According to him, he board will no longer spare any liqour vendor in all the 25 local governments of the state , stressing that   those illegal business will no longer be tolerated”.

” Every vendor must obtain a license and must be within 8kiometre radius from the state capital , that is what the law says and we are going to implement the law to the letter”.

Already he said the board has clamp down on both the major minor distributors because according to him the state cannot be a dumping ground for sale, distribution and manufacture locally brew alcohol and sales of larger beer as those engage in the business must obtain license and do ply their trade outside the metropolis.

He maintained that various hideout used by liqour vendors have been detected and that a joint enforcement team of the police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the state Hisbah group would be fully mobilized for arrest and prosecution of offenders
