Lagos Permits Eateries, Restaurants To Close 7pm Daily

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday extended the closing time for Eateries and Restaurants from 9am to 7pm due to the ongoing Ramadan fasting.

But Food markets are to open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays while Non Food markets to open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.”

However, those in the private sectors that are expected to resume partial work on Monday, 4 May, 2020, and markets, are to close by 3pm.

He hinted that the compulsory use of face mask even as he added that free distribution of facemask will commence on Monday.

In a broadcast to the people of the state on guidelines to easing the lockdown which has been in force in the last five weeks, Gov Sanwo-Olu stated that “Tomorrow no Civil Servant must resume tomorrow, except for those on level 15 above should resume from Tuesday.

He also explained that Banks are expected to open too but maintain “strict observance of all rules to hygiene and social distancing, ensure that their ATM machines are well sanitised and possibly provide means of transport for their staff.

While making adjustments to the closing time on Eateries and Restaurants because of the Ramadan, Sanwo-Olu added that they will open from 9am to 7pm, only with Take-away packs and Order, no one must sit and eat.

He called on those whose vehicles were arrested on or before 14th of April, to go and start collecting their seized vehicles even as he enjoined commuters transport to operate between 6am to 7pm daily.

While noting that strict monitoring would be carried out, the governor released three free toll numbers to whistle blowers to call in and report defaulters, noting that their identity would not be revealed. The numbers are: 09010513197; 09010513198 and 09010513199

For the elderly, Gov Sanwo-Olu implored them to remain at home because of their age.
