No fewer than about 23 people have been killed in a road crash in Masha village, along Makera-Mokwa road in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State, just as about 33 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps( FRSC) in the State, Mr. Joel Dagwa confirmed this to the newsmen in an interview by telephone late Monday evening, adding that the accident took place around the mid-day on Monday.
Dagwa said the crash was a lone crash involving only a blue DAF trailer (95 Model) while he attributed the immediate cause of the crash, to speed limit violation and the loss of control of the vehicle by the truck driver.
According to the FRSC’s Boss, the trailer driver took off from Kebbi State to Lagos loaded with cows, saying a “total number of 55 adult males were said to be in board of the trailer”
