A former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Domestic Matters and Social Events, Dr. Waripamo-owei Dudafa, has formally tender his resignation letters to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Dudafa, who also previously served as a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, made the announcement in a statement issued to newsmen in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
In the letter of his resignation addressed to the PDP Chairman, Southern Opokuma/Ayibabiri Ward (8) eight in the Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, the ex-president’s former Aide stated that his decision to quit the Party followed a period of deep reflection and consultation with his political associates, supporters, and family members.
The statement read in parts: “Throughout my time with the party, I have been deeply committed to our shared values and goals, and it has been an honour to work with so many dedicated individuals”
He further stated that the unresolved disputes, particularly at the national level, have significantly impeded our ability to move forward, rather it creates an environment of conflict that’s no longer conducive to advancing the shared values and objectives.
“I wish to formally announce my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This decision was not taken lightly but after due consultation with my friends, political associates, and family members who have stood by me over the years.
National Wire reports that until his re-sign from the PDP, Dudafa was a son figure to the former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
He urged his supporters to remain steadfast.
Political observers in and outside the state believe Dudafa’s resignation could signal realignments ahead of future political developments in Bayelsa and at the national level.
