Erstwhile Chief mobilization Officer, Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Comrade Wisdom Oniekpar Ikuli says the people of Bayelsa and indeed the Niger Delta have been too marginalized and deprived of development.
The former IYC national officer made this revelation, Saturday in Yenagoa the Bayelsa State Capital shortly after the primary election conducted by the social Democratic party.
Ikuli, an aspirant for the state House of Assembly election seeking to represent Ogbia constituency III berated those in public officers for denying their areas and people of development.
According to the Imiringi-born former Ijaw Youths mobilizer and politician, Oloibiri where oil was first exploited in commercial quantity was left hapless and helpless, stressing that Ogbia constituency III where he seeks to represent is prone to similar fate where over a hundred oil wells are currently being exploited by the multinationals.
Speaking on why he chose to contest under the platform of the SDP, Ikuli harped that the party remains a force to be reckoned with having been formed since the aborted third republic, describing it as an alternative force where credible, sympathetic and dogged Nigerians are nominated to represent their people.
Ikuli opined that people occupying public officers should be instruments of development and unity, emphasizing that the politics of the state lacks unity.
The SDP candidate maintained that if elected as Assembly member in the forthcoming election he would leave no stone unturned in being a rallying point of his constituents in matters of development and accessible representation.
Meanwhile attempts at speaking with comrade Ikuli’s follow aspirant for the Ogbia III constituency were abortive sources say the contender Mr Otami Benjamin has pledge his support towards making an SDP represented Assembly constituency possibly by joining forces with the former IYC mobilization chief for victory.
