Ecobank Nigeria staff at the weekenddonated various items to Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospice, Lagos as part ofactivities to mark this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD).
According to Omoboye Odu, member,Organising Committee, IWD, Ecobank Nigeria, the kind gesture is borne out of adesire to touch the lives of the children by assisting to shape their future,education and lifestyle in a more positive way.
“As mothers working in Ecobank,we decided to do something that will show bold and inspire change in ourcommunity. Hearts of Gold is a community we are committed to and is very closeto our hearts. So we are here to donate gift items mainly foods, beddings andothers that will help the caregivers to take good care of the children livingin the home.”
She opined that the donation is in also inline with Ecobank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy to helpimprove the lives of children in need.
“What we are doing today is part ofEcobank DNA. We are not here to show but to touch the lives of these childrenand to create a society alert to encourage other people to come anddonate financially and materially to these children who need their support.”
The Founder, Hearts of Gold Children’sHospice, Mrs Laja Adedoyin, commended Ecobank staff for regular show of love tochildren in the home. According to her, “We are grateful for your support.Ecobank has remained our reliable and good friend and we treasure our warmrelationship.”
She enjoined public spirited individuals,corporate organizations and others to partner with them for the betterment ofthe children.
Established13 years ago, Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospice provides care, fun, laughterand emotional support to abandoned babies and young children with life limitingand life threatening conditions. It helps these children live life to the fullby creating wonderful and family like environment.
It provides individualizedcare and much needed respite, care and support. The care is free of charge andthe children come from different parts of the country.
