IRT Mourns Gallant Sgt Sanusi Lanre

The IRT has confirmed the death of one of its men, Sgt. Sanusi Lanre who was shot during a gun battle with the kidnappers of four British citizens in Delta State.

The sad news was a rude shock to the force and especially the leader of the deceased’s squad, Abba Kyari who is bent on smoking out kidnappers from their hideouts.

In a statement made available to National Wire, Sanusi was shot during a gun duel with kidnappers of the four British nationals abducted in the Niger Delta recently.

It reads in part, “Sad day for IRT: Sgt Sanusi Lanre of IRT who was shot during a gun battle with the kidnappers of the four British citizens in Delta State died 12noon today (Friday) after surgery was conducted earlier yesterday to remove the bullet in his stomach and rectify the damages caused by the kidnappers’ bullet.

“We thank God that, the kidnapper that shot him has also met his Waterloo and we pray that our gallant officer who died in the line of duty will rest in peace and may Almighty God give his family the fortitude to bear the loss, Amen.”

The late Sgt Sanusi Lanre fought gallantly, contributing his quota to the Nigerian police and paid the supreme price yesterday.

He would be greatly missed by his family and the entire police force.
