Two police officers that were held for the shooting and killing of a teenage girl, Tina Ezekwe, at Iyanoworo have been indicted following an investigative panel instituted by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu.
The two police officers identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Theophilus Otobo and Inspector Oguntoba Olamigoke were had opened fire without any justifiable reason killing a teenage girl, Tina Ezekwe, a-17-year old and injuring another one Musa Yakubu, 35 years at Iyanoworo.
As a result, the Command commenced an internal disciplinary proceedings against the two officers.
Given details of the proceedings, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Elkana Bala said while the ASP has been served an Official Query in line with the provisions of the Public Service Rules, Inspector Oguntoba Olamigoke is undergoing an Orderly-Room trial (in-house ‘court’ trial) at the State Command Provost Office.
“The ASP will be appearing before the Force Disciplinary Board sitting in Abuja and their recommended punishments would be forwarded to the Police Service Commission for approval.
Meanwhile, CP Odumosu has assured that as soon as the internal disciplinary proceedings have been duly exhausted and culpability of the indicted officers established, they would be arraigned in a court of competent jurisdiction for prosecution.
