Former Vice-President of Nigeria, and presidential hopeful for 2019, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday in Asaba, said he would win next year’s presidential election, in spite of the gang up against him.
He also said he was still consulting with his former boss, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on ways to achieving his ambition.
Atiku, who recently decamped from APC to PDP, said: “what I am doing at present, is consultations with local leaders across the country to see how we could revamp the destroyed economy by the present administration.”
He said when voted into office, we will repair the destroyed economy that has brought tears, hunger and unending killings of innocent citizens of this country, especially in the Northern States. Atiku said
“The situation right now, is precarious, and it’s only PDP leaders across the country that will help to strengthen our country.”
On why he dumped the APC for PDP, the Waziri of Adamawa said, “I am not regretting my decision because I know I will rule Nigeria come 2019, nobody can stop me, the highest the people are doing around me, is cheap blackmails, I am not a thief, and I will not be because of the fear of Allah.
“A lot of what I have come to do in Delta state is to sensitize my people in the State to support my aspiration of becoming the next president of Nigeria”.
Asked the magic wand, Atiku assured the people of his immense contributions to strengthen Nigerian economy with a view to ensuing peaceful coexistence among different ethnic groups across the country.
He added that “All hands must be on deck to ensuing peaceful coexistence among different ethnic groups.”
Lamenting the continued killings in Benue, Plateau, Taraba, and Borno states, the presidential hopeful said: “This is clear that
President Buhari has failed in all areas, so what is he doing there? When we are voted into office, all these would be corrected, Nigeria at present is almost desolate, it is unfortunate in this country called
Nigeria, many things have gone wrong, but we must do our best to justify why PDP leaders insist on taking over the country.
Obasanjo will support me. He is my boss and we are seriously talking, and very soon, we will agree in the need for one Nigeria.
“He is a boss I respect so much, and so those who vowed it can’t work, will be disappointed, I shall be the president of Nigeria come 2019,”
He said that APC as a party cannot deceive Nigerians again, adding that ” how can APC think by changing its slogan, Nigerians will suddenly forget that in the last three years of its administration, the nation has witnessed the change it promised?
“On our own part, ours is to reposition the PDP and leaders across the country are working hard to bring forth a form of government that will encapsulate the aspirations, happiness and prosperity of Nigerians in all areas of life “
Atiku alleged that the essence of Oshimohle’s emergence as President Muhammadu Buhari’s sole candidate was to frustrate other would-be presidential aspirants of APC extraction, and hand the party’s ticket to Buhari, adding ” with the outcome of the Saturday’s convention, the APC has kissed internal democracy goodbye in selection of its candidates at all levels and national leadership”.
Expectedly, the unity Hall in old Government House was filled to the brim by the who-is-who in PDP in the state.
But the Governor, Dr, Ifeanyi Okowa however expressed satisfaction for the present development in the party’s leadership and assured his of his willingness to be part of the successes to be recorded come 2019, and called on those who dumped the party in the state to as a matter of urgency return for unity and prosperity of the PDP.
