In what was considered a sweeping redeployment and appointment of senior police officers to reinvigorate community-policing, crime prevention, public security, safety and general crime fighting, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has appointed new eight Commissioners of Police.
In that vein, CP Johnson Babatunde Kokumo has been appointed as the new Commissioners of police, Edo State while CP Undie J. Adie takes over Osun State Police Command.
In a statement by the DCP Frank Mba on Thursday in Abuja gave other new Commissioners as Bauchi State taken over by CP Lawal Jimeta Tanko; Ebonyi State CP Philip Sule Maku; Gombe State CP Ahmed Maikudi Shehu; Ondo State CP Bolaji Amidu Salami and Oyo State CP Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu.
Other newly appointed Commissioners are CP Evelyn T. Peterside, who takes over in Eastern Port as CP Okon Etim Ene is in charge of Explosive Ordnance Depot (EOD) and the Airport Command is to be under the commissionership of CP Bello Maikwashi while the Anti-Fraud Unit (FCID Annex Lagos) will be under CP Olukolu Tairu Shina.
While calling for support, IGP Adamu enjoined the citizens of the affected states to cooperate with the Commissioners of Police to enable them succeed in their new areas of responsibilities.
