The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Alumni Association of Iginatus Ajuru University of Education(IAUE), Port Harcourt, Rivers State has elected new executive to pilot its affairs for the next three years.
National Wire learnt that the institution was formerly known as the Rivers State College of Education.
National Wire further reports that Bayelsa State chapter alumni have at a congress held February 5th, 2023 at the NUJ Press Centre, Ekeki Yenagoa, conducted election to usher in the association’s new leadership .
The polls which were keenly contested under the chairmanship of the Diton Sunday led Electoral committee were observed by members of the outgone State executives, lead by the immediate past state Chairman, Mr Gibson Gbalimori, the National President of the Association, Dr. Jerome Iwuso as well as other members of the national executive.
Stating the outcome of the elections, the electoral umpire declared Mrs Karinabo Igbanibo as winner of the Chairmanship seat, while Neminebor Anthony emerged as Vice Chairman, this was even as James Gbodo clinched the position of General Secretary, respectively.
Others who were elected into the new executive were, Mr Julius Nyananyo, Assistant General Secretary, Mr Etale Tamarautonye, Financial Secretary, Ms Ebiye Munemune, Treasurer while Mr Frank Epuke emerged as PRO.
Also elected as executive members were, Pastor Danson Osiamaowei, Director of Welfare, Mr Torukorime Agabugene, Provost one, and Mr Bini Okpobo, Provost two.
In her acceptance speech, the new elected chairman, Mrs Karinabo Igbanibo thanked the association for electing her and members of her team, promising to run an open door policy so as to build a better and stronger alumni.
She said: “In this alumni election, there is no loser no winner. I enjoined members to be committed to the affairs of the association so that the state alumni chapter would take her pride of place in the comity of the ‘Alumni Associations’ in the State.
